Understanding Your Self-Worth

February 9, 2017

If there is anything that I have learned throughout this past year, it is that you have to get completely lost and thrown way off track to be able to find yourself and start the journey in becoming the person you truly want to be. Knowing your self-worth is imperative to your happiness. If you don’t feel good and at peace with your life, it’s really hard to feel good about anything else. It is more important to love yourself instead of loving the idea of other people loving you. Please, re-read that. Over and over. You have to know that you are good enough. You have to know that you are worth it. Once you master belief in yourself, no one can steal that love from you.

Your happiness is worth far too much to put in the hands of another person.

Constantly trying to validate your self-worth through the eyes of others, is the surest way to lose it. Self-worth and self-love are called that for a reason – you cannot find either of those things in other people. Too often we think that our value decreases based on the inability for others to see our worth. The relationship that we have with ourselves, sets the tone for every other relationship that we have. When we finally are able to love ourselves the way that we so freely love others, we gradually stop begging them for scraps of their affection. We deserve the love that we give others and only you are capable of loving yourself in the way that you need the most.

Accept yourself. Love Yourself. Celebrate yourself.

Your words are spot on! So many people look to others to create happiness for them–and it just does not work that way. It definitely all starts with oneself and you said it all so well. 🙂
